you asked "Did anyone figure out how to reset the Estimated Ink Level after refilling the Ink Cartridges for HP Photosmart printer? Any help is greatly appreciated!!"
I found the answer... in this forum.. but I figured that I would post the answer again..
I have the HP photosmart 1115.. and I use cartridges 51645a & c6578a.. You have to make the Printer “think” you have inserted a new Cartridges, after you have refilled your cartridges, and still have them out of the printer, Place both cartridges in front of you with the foil contacts facing you and the print head down. for the color cartridge, with tape, cover the four upper contacts on the left edge (first vertical row). Looking at the contacts on the back of the cartridges after taping each cartridge. The patterns are like the following: (x = taped contacts . = untaped contacts) x.. ... x.. ... x.. ... x.. ...
for the black cartridge, cover the two upper contacts on the left edge (first vertical row). Looking at the contacts on the back of the cartridges after taping each cartridge. The patterns are like the following: (x = taped contacts . = untaped contacts) x.. ... x.. ... ... ... ... ...
with the printer cover open, re-insert the two cartridges – close the cover - re-open the cover after 3 to 4 seconds. Wait for the printer to give you access to the cartridges again ( it should “park in the problem with cartridge area (left side). Remove the cartridges again. for the color cartridge, remove the tape from the left edge. Now put tape over the far right edge upper four contacts. the patterns are like the following: (x = taped contacts . = untaped contacts) ... ..x ... ..x ... ..x ... ..x
for the black cartridge, cover the two upper contacts on the right edge. Looking at the contacts on the back of the cartridges after taping each cartridge. The patterns are like the following: (x = taped contacts . = untaped contacts) ... ..x ... ..x ... ... ... ...
Again re-insert the two cartridges – close the cover – reopen the cover after 3 to 4 seconds. Wait for the printer to give you access to the cartridges and remove them.
Remove the tape – carefully clean the contacts – Re-insert the cartridges – close the cover. That should reset the Estimated Ink Levels. You can check them using the HP toolbox. (The levels should be at the top)
